Dutch aid efforts among most transparent

The Netherlands is one of the most transparent countries in the world in terms of spending on development aid, according to American researchers at the Aid Transparency Index.

The British aid department tops the list with a score of 91%, followed by the World Bank on 88%. The Dutch ministry of foreign affairs is joint third with a score of 77%, thanks in part to the introduction of the openaid.nl website, which publishes aid-related information.
The research looks at 72 national governments and aid organisations. The Netherlands was fourth last year.
