Arsonist strikes again in Winschoten

Groningen police on Wednesday confirmed a fire in an empty house in the eastern town of Winschoten was started deliberately, making it at least the 18th case of arson over the past few months.

Most of the fires have been started in empty properties, RTL news reported.
The local council has now invoked emergency powers giving police the right to stop and search people on the street. Security camera surveillance will also be beefed up.
Officials have also urged the owners of empty buildings to make sure they are properly boarded up.
