Hero Brinkman to fight threatening behaviour charges in court
Departing parliamentarian Hero Brinkman will appear in front of magistrates in Haarlem next Tuesday to fight charges of threatening behaviour, the public prosecution office has confirmed.
The department had planned to drop the charges against Brinkman, which focus on a dispute with a contractor over renovations at his farmhouse in Middenbeemster.
Charges against the contractor have been dropped, but Brinkman refused to agree to the department’s decision to take no further action on his case, saying he had done nothing wrong.
The case will now be heard in court after all.
Brinkman, a former police officer, left the anti-immigration party PVV earlier this year but failed to win a seat in last week’s general election.
