Health insurer DSW keeps premium at current level

Health insurer DSW, always the first to declare its premium for the new year, said on Tuesday it will not increase the price of its basic package for 2013.

Clients will continue to pay €102.50 for the basic package with the minimum own risk, which will be €350 next year.
It is the first time since 2009 that a basic package premium has not risen, according to website nu.nl.
The company is, however, raising its premium for treatments and services that fall outside the basic package by a small amount. It did not give details.
Health minister Edith Schippers said earlier this year she expected the premium to rise by an annual €20 from 2013. DSW says this is not necessary because insurers are buying cheaper medicines.
