Financial trouble places 17 schools under government supervision

Some 95,000 young children and teenagers are attending schools which are in serious financial difficulty, according to research by teaching union AOb.

In total, 17 schools and vocational training colleges have been put under the special supervision by education inspectors.
AOb director Walter Dresscher told RTL news all the schools show the same pattern of spending on major purchases and ‘playing’ with their reserves.
Earlier this year, the giant Amarantis school group narrowly managed to avoid bankruptcy and was broken up after getting into financial difficulty.
Most of the schools in trouble are either vocational colleges or religious schools.
