European parliament to look into €13,000 bill for PVV euro report

The European parliament plans to investigate possible irregularities in payments to the anti-immigration PVV in Brussels.

Last week, television current affairs show Reporter said the PVV delegation in Brussels had claimed over €13,000 from the EU to pay for a report into the cost of the euro. However, the report was for the national party, not the European section, and that contravenes European rules.
Bart Staes, a Green MEP and deputy chairman of the parliament’s audit commission, said Europe’s citizens are becoming increasingly sceptical and suspicious of the EU.
That is why it is of ‘great importance to find out if the rules and procedures have been broken and taxpayers’ money has been misused,’ he is quoted as saying by the NRC.
