Dutch teachers are getting too old, says EU
The European Union is worried about the aging teaching staff in Dutch secondary schools, half of whom are over 50 years of age.
The research comes from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and puts the Netherlands in fourth place out of the 21 EU member countries looked at, reports the Telegraaf.
Only Germany, Italy and Estonia have a higher number of teachers over 50.
The EU says this development will bring problems in the near future and that attracting more young people into teaching will be a challenge, says the paper.
