Death cell becomes museum

Death cell 601 at Scheveningen prison is being turned into a museum, the Volkskrant reports on Tuesday.

The unit, which housed resistance fighters during World War II who were later executed in the nearby dunes by the Nazi occupiers, will be surrounded by a special building so that visitors can gain entrance without having to enter the prison itself.
There will also be an information centre tracing the history of the infamous cell which is now a listed building.
The cost of developing the museum is estimated at €3m.
