Utrecht reaches financial settlement with bullied gay pair

A gay couple who were driven from their home in Utrecht by a gang of local youths have reached a compensation deal with the city council and police, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

Financial details of the settlement were not made public.
The bullying began in 2009 at the men’s home in the district of Leidsche Rijn. The men accused police and council officials at the time of not taking their complaints seriously.
The couple eventually moved home, selling their home at a large loss.
Last year, the council offered them €35,000 in compensation but the men went to court in an effort to win €60,000.
