PSV and Twente move into Europa League group phase
PSV Eindhoven and Twente both made it through to the group stage of this year’s Europa League competition but AZ, Heerenveen and Feyenoord are out.
PSV thrashed Montenegro side Zeta FK 9-0 at home, adding to a 0-5 away win the week before. Georginio Wijnaldum and Tim Matavz both scored hat-tricks to complete a 14-0 aggregate.
FC Twente managed to overhaul a deficit from the first leg to beat Turkey’s Bursaspor 4-1 in extra time. Leroy Fer scored the goal which gave the Dutch side a 5-4 win on aggregate.
Feyenoord of Rotterdam followed up a first-leg draw with a 2-0 loss at AC Sparta Praha, while FC Anzhi Makhachkala hammered AZ Alkmaar 5-0. Heerenveen lost at home 1-2 againt Molde FK of Norway, after a 2-0 away defeat last week.
