Golden treasure found in Staphorst
Amateur archeologists have found a treasure trove of gold and silver in the Overijssel town of Staphorst.
The treasure was uncovered in March but has only just been announced because the finders wanted to be sure what it is, say press reports.
According to the Archeological Region Staphorst, the cache consists of 29 silver and two gold buttons and a pocket watch, dating from between 1720 and 1880.
The find has little monetary value but the age of the jewellery makes it very interesting, say the archeologists.
