Smart phone banking grows in popularity
The number of Dutch people using their smart phone to pay bills and check their bank balance increased by 17.5% in the second quarter of 2012, according to figures from telecom analyst Telecompaper.
Around 6% use apps on their smart phone to pay for goods in shops.
Rabobank was the first to introduce a mobile banking app in 2010. Last year, ING and ABN Amro introduced their own apps.
The popularity of these apps is growing fast, says Telecompaper. In the third quarter of 2011, just 7% of people were using them.
