ProRail bosses forego partial bonus but get a pay rise instead
The supervisory board of rail track operator ProRail has decided not to approve the final part of the executive board’s 2011 bonuses, transport minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen told parliament in a briefing.
To date, 6% of the 16% bonus has not been paid out. Because of the problems caused by the winter weather and the more recent IT system failure, the board has decided not to approve the 6% still owing, says Schultz van Haegen.
The minister says she appreciates the gesture, which she thinks has been made because of the outrage caused by the chaos caused to the travelling public.
In future, ProRail will not pay its executives bonuses. Instead they will get an 8% pay rise over two years. Schultz van Haegen agrees with this arrangement, saying it will create a balanced reward structure.
