Complaints website crashes on first day of exams

Over 10,000 complaints were received by the school pupils’ union LAKS on Monday, the first day of final exams, causing the website to crash.

Most of the complaints came from pre-university (vwo) and pre-college (havo) students. Vwo students said the summary in the Dutch exam was too difficult and some havo students took four hours to complete their art exam because the computers were too slow.
This year there were also complaints about the use of a film in which Lady Gaga was shown with her legs wide apart. This was offensive, said the complainants.
Nearly 207,000 final year pupils are taking school leaving exams over the next two weeks. The LAKS hotline has become a traditional part of the exam process.
