Ajax wants to offer coach Frank de Boer ‘a contract for life’, the Amsterdam football club’s finance director Jeroen Slop says in Monday’s Telegraaf.

‘It is unique in the Netherlands but we are going for an unlimited contract and we want to know how Frank feels about it,’ Slop told the paper, before adding that the plan first has to be discussed by the new supervisory board.
‘The advantage to a permanent contract is that it creates calm and, together with Wim Jonk and Dennis Bergkamp, Frank can take a long-term perspective and maintain club culture,’ he said.
De Boer has taken Ajax to the Dutch league title for the past two seasons. His current contract expires in 2014.
