The number of threats made to politicians dropped considerably in 2011, according to a special police team set up to deal with MPs’ safety.

In 2008 the team investigated 304 serious threats against ministers and MPs but last year the number had dropped to 107.
Even threats to anti-immigration PVV leader Geert Wilders have dropped considerably, says the team.
The threats often come from school pupils who do not realise what the consequences are for themselves and the victim, the AD says in its reporting.
