A Dutch businessman has pleaded guilty to a US court to charges of illegally transporting American goods to Iran, the New Jersey public prosecutor announced on Monday.

The 50-year-old Ulrich D from Purmerend arranged the transportation of chemicals, lubricants, insulation material and other products from a company in New Jersey via the Netherlands to Iran.
According to the public prosecutor, the goods were intended for the aviation industry.
The US introduced a law in 1995 forbidding trade with Iran, with a 20-year prison sentence for anyone convicted of breaking the sanctions.
However, Ulrich D will receive a maximum sentence of five years and a fine of 250,000 dollars because he pleaded guilty, according to Dutch press reports.
He will be sentenced on May 15.
