Women with PIP implants urged to have them removed

The 1,400 Dutch woman who have breast implants made by the French firm PIP should have them removed as a preventative measure, news agency ANP reports on Wednesday.

The recommendation comes from health ministry inspectors and the plastic surgeons’ association, ANP said.
Earlier, health minister Edith Schippers said women should have their implants checked.
France banned the PIP implants, found to be made with industrial silicone, in 2010 and 30,000 women were advised to have them removed.
