Local government income forecast to rise 3.2% in 2012

Local governments will see a 3.2% rise in their income in 2012, mainly from council and water authority taxes, the central statistics agency CBS said on Tuesday.

Most of the rise, which takes the total raised in local taxes to €12.2bn, comes from higher property taxes (ozb) and the sewage system tax.
Building permits are expected to drop by nearly 4%, the third year in a row they will have fallen.
The CBS says it based its forecast on local government budgets. It will publish more data in March.
