KPN chief finance officer quits
KPN’s chief financial officer Carla Smits-Nusteling has left the company, effective January 1, following a difference of opinion about the new executive structure at the telecoms giant.
‘Smits-Nusteling has informed the supervisory board that she has ultimately come to the conclusion that she does not agree with the internal governance of the company in the new executive structure,’ the company said in a statement.
The aim of the new executive structure is to ‘enable a more direct control of the operational activities’ and so act on changing market dynamics and customer demand, the company said.
Smits-Nusteling will not be paid a golden handshake at her own request. She took the CFO job in September 2009 and her contract had been due to expire in April 2012.
Eric Hageman, the head of KPN Belgium, and Steven van Schilfgaarde, who heads the Corporate Market division, will take over the CFO tasks on an interim basis.
