The jets were on the point of leaving on a training mission when they were called in to help track down one suspect who had disappeared after the stolen car crashed, the website said.
A defence ministry spokesman said it is extremely unusual that jet fighters are used to help police give chase.
Two suspects were arrested at the scene and the third was picked up later in the evening.
