Add as a favourite source on Google Add DutchNews as a favourite source on GoogleThe Dutch have never been so pessimistic about their finances as now, with one third expecting a downturn in their economic situation this year, according to new research from the government’s socio-cultural research institute SCP.
The research, based on 1,000 people and mainly carried out in October, shows 40% of people in low-skilled functions expect their personal fortunes to deteriorate this year, compared with 23% of those earning more than average wages.
Two-thirds of those questioned also expect the Dutch economy to perform more poorly in 2012.
