Defence and police unions poised to leave CNV federation
The CNV trade union federation is on the verge of breaking up with police union ACP and defence union ACOM both planning to leave, Trouw reports on Friday.
The CNV is the country’s second biggest federation, with nine unions and 340,000 members.
The ACP has decided to leave because of the ‘marginal influence’ it has on federation policy. The ACOM has not yet taken a final decision but is also angry at the way dissident voices are silenced.
The ACP in particular was opposed to the CNV’s support of the new pensions system.
The country’s biggest union federation, the FNV, was also threatened with collapse – partly over pension reform. It is currently working on a new organisational structure to keep its membership intact.
