CDA members want Eurlings or De Jager as new leader
Former transport minister Camiel Eurlings and current finance minister Jan Kees de Jager are Christian Democrat favourites to take on the leadership job, according to a poll by television programme EenVandaag.
Eurlings, who left politics for the private sector after the last election, took 21% of the vote. De Jager was second with 18%. Neither man is ‘available’.
Support for the CDA halved at the June 2010 general election and has gone down further since then. The party has not had a formal leader since Jan Pieter Balkenende resigned following the party’s disappointing performance at the polls.
