Saab files for bankruptcy

Swedish car maker Saab, owned by Dutch company Swedish Automobile, has filed for bankruptcy.

The company was bought by Dutch entrepreneur and owner of Spyker Cars Victor Muller at the beginning of 2010 but has been in troubled financial waters since then.
In a statement, Amsterdam-listed Swedish Automobile said ‘the company without further funding will be insolvent and filing bankruptcy is in the best interests of its creditors.’
Trading in Swedish Automobile, halted last week in Amsterdam, will resume on Monday, the financial services regulator AFM said.
