Motorway sharpshooter ‘does not exist’: police report

A police report into the mysterious shattering of dozens of car windscreens in August and September has concluded the so-called motorway sharpshooter does not exist.

The gunman was said to be responsible for shattering either the windscreens or rear windows of numerous cars on motorways all over the country over a period of several weeks in late summer.
However, despite investigating 179 cases, the police have failed to find any bullets or shotgun pellets, making it unlikely the shooter exists, the police report said. Many of the windows that shattered were broken by stones.
In total, 40 police officers were involved in investigating the case.
