Fireworks haul reaches nearly 63,000 kilos so far
Police and other officials have seized almost 63,000 kilos of illegal fireworks so far in the run up to the New Year festivities, the public prosecution department says.
The total is some 18,000 kilos more than at the end of November last year. Last year, total seizures amounted to over 80,000 kilos.
The Netherlands has strict laws relating to the sales of fireworks. Fireworks may only be sold to the public from licensed locations during a few days prior to December 31.
