Few new mortgages in November
Dutch banks extended hardly any new mortgages in November, with the total mortgage debt rising by just 0.1%, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Friday.
In total, the size of the mortgage debt rose by €532m, compared with €965m in October and around €1.5bn in preceding months. The November increase is the lowest in eight years, the paper said.
Given an average mortgage of €220,000, just 2,377 mortgages were extended last month, compared with around 7,000 in January, the paper calculates.
