Dutch rower rescued as boat sinks mid-Atlantic

A Dutchman and a British national have been rescued from the Atlantic Ocean when the rowing boat they were travelling in was capsized by ‘an enormous wave’, the Guardian reports on Wednesday.

The boat sank but the two men were able to reach their life raft and stay afloat until picked up by a cruise ship.
Tom Sauer and Tom Fancett were taking part in the Talisker Atlantic Challenge and set off on 4 December from the Canary Island of La Gomera to row to Barbados, a distance of some 5,000 kilometres.
Sauer, a student at St Andrews University in Scotland, had hoped to be the youngest Dutchman to successfully row across the Atlantic Ocean, the Guardian said.
