Compromise reached on Queen’s Day festival

Next year’s Radio 538 pop festival to celebrate Queen’s Day on April 30 will take place near the RAI exhibition centre south of Amsterdam city centre, the city council said on Thursday.

Mayor Eberhard van der Laan wanted the concert moved from its traditional location on the Museumplein because of the risk to public safety. The festival attracts some 300,000 visitors at its central location while the RAI has space for 600,000.
