Rutte off to Washington next week

Mark Rutte makes his first visit since becoming prime minister to the White House next Tuesday. He will be accompanied by foreign minister Uri Rosenthal.


Rutte and president Barack Obama will discuss the debt crisis and the economic ties between the two countries. They will also talk about the situation in the Arab world and the Nato conference scheduled for 2012 in Chicago.
According to the government press office, the Netherlands is the third biggest investor in the US and ninth on its list of export partners.
On Monday, Obama is due to meet EU leaders Herman Van Rompuy and Manuel Barroso to discuss the debt crisis.
