Ghanaian king orders 10,000 pairs of clogs

A Ghanaian king has ordered 10,000 pairs of Dutch wooden shoes, or clogs, to use as part of an election campaign, Nos television reports.

The order was placed with Friesian foundation Akwadaa Aseda which is active in Ghana, Nos says.
Spokesman Alfred Lehmann, who also runs an advertising agency, says he took a couple of pairs of clogs to Ghana several weeks ago. He was on a visit to try to promote a charity building project.
Enthusiasm
But king Nana Okrukata the Fifth of New Akrade was so enthusiastic he wanted to keep them, Lehmann told Nos.
Now the king has ordered 10,000 new pairs in red, white and blue – the colours of the New Patriotic Party. He plans to use them in next year’s election campaign.
Lehmann says he is now trying to organise enough clog makers to complete the order. And no clogs will be heading to Ghana until the bill has been paid.
