Fog starts to clear but conditions remain difficult
The thick fog which has been covering the whole country is beginning to break up, although travelling conditions will remain difficult in many parts of the country on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, according to weather forecasters.
Despite the foggy conditions, Tuesday’s morning rush-hour caused fewer problems, with 280 kilometres of traffic jams in the ‘usual places’, motoring organisation ANWB reported.
However, Schiphol airport was again forced to cancel dozens of flights.
The fog is gradually clearing in the south of the country where it is now thin enough to let through some sunshine, say weather forecasters. But the north remains foggy.
The fog is expected to clear completely by Thursday with rain moving in from the south-west and higher temperatures.
