Ahold wants to triple online grocery sales

Dutch supermarket group Ahold is planning to triple online grocery sales to €1.5bn by 2016 and plans a major push into Belgium, the company said on Monday.

The plans are part of a six-pillar approach to accelerate growth over the next few years.
‘We are reshaping our retail businesses to connect with our customers in a more personalised way and to provide an even better shopping experience in our stores and online,’ CEO Dick Boer said.
The Belgian drive involves expanding from two stores to 50 by 2016. The US chain Stop and Shop is also to be modernised.
