Teachers furious at holiday cut plan
Teaching union AOb is furious at cabinet plans to cut secondary school summer holidays by one week, the AD reports on Wednesday.
The union says the reduction in days off will only increase the pressure of work on teachers and make the profession less attractive.
Education minister Marja van Bijsterveldt is due to debate the proposed changes with MPs on Wednesday. The cabinet wants to cut the summer break from seven to six weeks to make sure pupils get the required 1,000 hours of formal education a year.
