Ministry cleaning contract under fire
A new contract for cleaners who work in the social affairs and foreign ministries is to be measured against official guidelines on socially-responsible market forces, social affairs minister Henk Kamp told MPs on Monday.
Cleaners at the two ministries have gone on strike, complaining they have more work to do in less time since the switch to a cheaper cleaning firm.
The guidelines were drawn up to make sure staff do not bear the brunt of a price war between companies competing to provide government services.
This is the first time a new contract will have been checked for compliance, the minister said.
