Minister wants youngsters at pension reform negotiations
The youth organisations of political parties will be represented during pension reform negotiations, social affairs minister Henk Kamp told the Algemene Dagblad on Monday.
He was reacting to protests by the youth organisations of the right-wing liberal VVD, Labour, left-wing liberal D66, green party GroenLinks and Christian fundamentalist SGP.
The youngsters are worried that old people will receive too much pension, leaving little for them. They have demanded a say in the negotiations.
Kamp told the AD that young people should also profit from the reform plans, which include raising the pension age to at least 66 and changing how corporate pensions are calculated.
Although pension reform was passed in parliament with the help of the Labour party, the general workers’ union Bondgenoted and the civil service union Abvakabo are still against the plans.
