Essent to reopen biomass energy plant

Energy company Essent announced on Monday the reopening of its biomass plant in Cuijk which makes 100% green energy.

The plant was closed in April because the government subsidy was stopped and the high cost of wood cuttings made it too costly to keep it running.
The plant will be reopened in 2012 and tests will be made using various kinds of biomass such as grasses, pulp paper and sawdust. Test will also be made on how to get the maximum out of biomass.
The announcement is part of the government’s new initiative for a package of measures to ensure the Netherlands reaches international green energy targets.
