D66 accuses the VVD of breaking promises about tax

Nearly 40 cents of every euro earned by the ordinary Dutch citizen will disappear in tax in 2012, according to calculations by Liberal democratic party D66.

The tax pressure on the ordinary citizen has not been so high in 10 years, D66 MP Wouter Koolmees told news agency ANP. The VVD had pledged that it would not accept higher taxes for individuals or companies during last year’s election campaign.
Koolmees calculates that by next year, 39.2 cents of every euro earned will go to the government in the form of taxes.
