Amsterdam public transport costs to soar
The cost of using public transport in and around Amsterdam is poised to go up by 30% next year, according to regional newspaper Noordhollands Dagblad on Tuesday.
The paper says the kilometre price is set to go up to 13.5 cents, compared with 10.5 cents at present. The cost is calculated in kilometres following the introduction of the public transport smart card.
The increase has been prompted by government cuts in spending on public transport.
