250 million guilders are still in circulation, says central bank
Every month, people hand in some 500,000 guilders to the central bank, but 250 million guilders are still in circulation, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.
Guilder notes can be exchanged for euros until 2032. Coins are no longer accepted.
The Netherlands adopted the euro on January 1, 2002, when a guilder was worth 0.45 euro cents.
