Unions fear new reorganisation at Rabobank

Rabobank is planning to cut more than a thousand jobs in a new reorganisation next year, trade unions have told the Financieele Dagblad.

The job losses would come on top of the 1,200 jobs which are already being cut at the Rabobank Nederland headquarters in Utrecht and Eindhoven, the unions say. Those cuts are aimed at reducing spending by €200m.
Erwin Rog, of banking union De Unie, says he is expecting a second round of cuts involving local branch staff. Some 27,000 people work at over 140 branches nationwide.
The FNV and CNV affiliated banking unions also expect hundreds of jobs to go at local branches, the paper says.
A Rabobank spokesman said the all banks are continually ‘optimalising’ their service provisions. ‘This could mean reorganisations are necessary but we can say nothing about size,’ the spokesman is quoted as saying.
In August, nationalised ABN Amro announced it was shaving a further 2,350 jobs from its workforce.
