Social security fraud cost €119m in 2010
Fraudulent social security claims cost the taxpayer €119m last year, similar to the 2010 total, according to new figures from the social affairs ministry published on Tuesday.
Half of the amount was due to fraud involving welfare benefits (bijstand), junior social affairs minister Paul de Krom told the Telegraaf.
In total, 82,000 people gave wrong information to social security officials, the figures show.
