Seven more refugee centres to close, hundred jobs to go

Seven more asylum seeker centres are set to close before March next year with the loss of 100 jobs, the refugee council COA said on Wednesday.

People who still live in the centres will be moved to new locations. Four other centres have already closed and three more will shut down before the end of the year.
The closures stem from a €51m cut in government spending on refugee centres – which in turn is due partly to a reduction in new arrivals, the COA said.
