Roger van Boxtel, who chairs the Menzis group, says he expects premiums to rise between €20 and €30 a year in 2012.
‘The gap between what people pay for healthcare and the actual cost is getting wider,’ Van Boxtel told television programme Nieuwsuur.
Health insurance currently costs an average of €1,222 per person per year, the government says. The minimum own risk element is also set to rise in 2012 – from €170 to €220.
