Few women at the top in Dutch industry, 30% target far away
There are still far fewer women in the top echelons of Dutch industry than 30% – soon to become the government’s official target, according to the latest Dutch Female Board Index.
The report shows most big firms, including building group Ballast Nedam, chip maker ASMI, Binck Bank and food ingredients group CSM, have no women on either the supervisory or management board, the Volkskrant reports.
Government guidelines state that by 2016, at least 30% of both boards at big firms should be made up of female executives. Of the 97 companies investigated for the index, only TNT Express currently makes the grade.
Telecoms group KPN, PostNL, Unilever and groceries group Ahold also stand out for having more women in senior positions.
In total, 9.2% of management board and 11.2% of supervisory board positions are filled
by women. The index is compiled by Erasmus University’s supervision and compliance institute.
