Dutch footballers want an end to television commitments
The Dutch national football squad has had enough of two commercial television shows based around their campaign to qualify for the next European championships, magazine Voetbal International reports.
One show, presented by Johnny de Mol, involves visiting the players’ homes. The other is an interactive show Harry voor Oranje, presented by Harry Vermeegen.
But according to VI, the seven-strong players’ council, which includes captain Mark van Bommel, Dick Kuyt and Wesley Schneider, has said the team no longer wants to have anything to do with the ‘mess’ surrounding the tv shows.
In particular, they see them as an infringement of their right to privacy.
The Netherlands plays Finland in a European Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening.
