City house prices more stable than rural areas, says CBS

House prices in the four big cities dropped less than in the rest of the Netherlands, says the central statistics agency CBS. The national average in August was 8.5% lower than in 2008.

Utrecht, in particular, has seen house prices remain fairly stable with a 2% drop over the past three years. The Hague saw the biggest drop among the four main cities at 7%.
In Amsterdam house prices fell more than the national average in 2008 but since 2010 prices have been increasing marginally, says the CBS.
The biggest falls were in Eindhoven (13%) and Ede (19%).
The CBS did not say how much the average house now costs.
