Zero tolerance during Gay Pride

Police are adopting a zero tolerance approach to anti-gay violence during this weekend’s Gay Pride celebrations, the public prosecution department said.

The department has already reserved November 8 for any court cases resulting from offences over the weekend.
In addition, prosecutors will ask for double sentences for people convicted of violent crimes which result in medical specialist involvement, news agency ANP reported.
‘Violence and insults against homosexuals will be dealt with severely,’ the agency quoted an official as saying.
The traditional Gay Pride boat parade and street party takes place on Saturday.
