Scientists at the Alterra research institute in Wageningen will release 10,000 mosquitoes on Friday afternoon, reports news agency ANP.

The scientists want to find out how far the insects travel in an open area without obstructions such as houses or trees.
The results will be useful to planners, says ANP. It will, for instance, allow them to work out how far from houses water tanks, which attract mosquitoes, should be built.
